Algebraic Complexity – CompA
An algebraic version of the «P=NP ?« problem
Algebraic Methods for Model-Checking of Timed and Hybrid Systems – MALTHY
Technology has advanced to the point that computer systems are embedded in almost any physical system from cars, trains, airplanes, robots, medical devices. Embedded systems become ever more complex a
Allatostatin receptors and stress resilience in honey bees – ASTRAPIS
Honey bees are exposed to mutiple sources of stress that make them more fragile. We have identified natural signals in the organism that modulate the sensitivity to stress. We will thus modify their efficiency by reducing their targets and by modulating their activity.<br />We will test the efficiency of both strategies to reduce the impact of pesticides. If so, this would pave the way for possible genetic (through selection) or pharmacological strategies for improving the hives' response to stress.
Altered hippocampal coding of social information and neural synchrony in autism – SynchrAutism
Autism, complex and heterogeneous neurodevelopmental disorder, is characterized by social behavioral impairments and hippocampal fragility. While studies involving mutant mice have begun to reproduce both social behavioral impairments and hippocampal synaptic dysfunctioning, defining the exact role played by the hippocampal synaptic plasticity and integrity in social behaviors, and its functional alteration in autism, will greatly enhance our understanding of the pathophysiology of autism.
AluACA RNAs, a novel class of human box H/ACA noncoding RNAs – AluACA
Our group has a long-standing interest in understanding of the functional complexity of box C/D and H/ACA small nucleolar and Cajal body-specific RNPs (snoRNPs and scaRNPs). During studying a group of human C/D and H/ACA RNPs which are associated with WDR79, we discovered a new class of human H/ACA RNPs, called the AluACA RNPs. The AluACA RNAs are processed from intronic Alu repetitive sequences.
Aluminium Nanoflakes for Propulsion Application – ANPA
Energetic materials play a key role in many applications both civilian and military. The objective of the ANPA project is to synthesize, characterize and understand the mechanisms of oxidation of nano
An Integrated Structural Biology Approach to the study of oncogenic deltaNp73-alpha stabilization induced by the IKK-beta kinase – IKKp73
The IKKß kinase phosphorylates the oncogenic deltaNp73alpha isoform (a member of the p53 tumor suppressor family and named Dp73 from here on) at Ser422. This phosphorylation event promotes the formation of a tight complex between IKKß and Dp73, which associates to the promoters of p53-regulated genes leading to silencing of gene expression. The project aims at characterizing the IKKß/Dp73 complex using an integrated Structural Biology approach.
An integrated test of Natural-Enemy mediated tree BEta-DIVersity across South American rain forests – NEBEDIV
Tropical plant diversity is extraordinarily high both at local and regional scales, including a significant component of beta-diversity, or the turnover in species composition across habitats and regions. Yet we still know little about the relative roles of biogeography, abiotic factors, and biotic factors in shaping tropical community composition. The NEBEDIV project represents a comprehensive evaluation of tropical forest beta-diversity across broad geographic and environmental gradients.
An international effort to understand FSHD muscular dystrophy epigenetics – inter-FSHD-epigen
Despite the fact they constitute two thirds of the human genome, repetitive sequences are largely ignored. FSHD is an autosomal dominant disorder with a strong epigenetic component. Unlike the majorit
Analysis of Fiscal Policy Mutipliers – AMF
The aim of this project is to analyze the macroeconomic consequences of fiscal policy and to evaluate their effects.
