Growth and Evolution of Planets in protoplAnetaRy Disks – GEPARD
Planets, in particular giant planets, form in disks of gas and dust around young stars. How they reach their final mass and orbit remains poorly understood. The phenomenons of planetary migration and gas accretion, which are intricated, can only be understood with a new paradigm of protoplanetary disks.

PARAMOUNT: Production of Aerosol paRticle orgAnic Matter in ClOUds: chamber and laboratory studies, mechanisms, modelling and iNTegration – PARAMOUNT
Demonstrate how and quatify how much the cloud processes contributes to the atmospheric organic aerosol burden.
Bivalve shell-based, high-resolution multi-proxy reconstruction of marine primary production – Pecten maximus, Bay of Brest – HIPPO
Despite the outstanding relevance of phytoplankton for the functioning of marine ecosystems and global climate, past primary production dynamics in the coastal zone is still not well characterized (time-series are usually too short and too sparse). It is therefore crucial to develop new tools that can provide reliable, temporally well-constrained, seasonally to inter-annually resolved data on past primary production dynamics in coastal nearshore environments based on shells of bivalve mollusks.
Advanced Lattice-Boltzmann Understandings for Multiphysics Simulations – ALBUMS
Numerical simulation is today an essential tool for engineering. The project aims at a qualitative leap in the field of computational fluid mechanics by developing new generation tools in fluid mechanics (for aerodynamics, aerothermics and aeroacoustics) based on an alternative paradigm to the classical approach based on Navier-Stokes equations, i.e. Lattice Boltzmann's methods.
Genetic and molecular contributors to adrenocortical hormone excess – GenAdEx
Adrenal steroids are main contributors to blood pressure and metabolic control and excessive aldosterone production as evident in primary aldosteronism (PA) is the most prevalent cause of secondary hypertension. Recent studies have identified genetic abnormalities in PA and the determinants of increased aldosterone production and nodule formation in the adrenal cortex. However, mechanisms that would explain the broader spectrum of endocrine autonomy in the adrenal cortex are lacking.
Operads, Calculus and Homotopy theory methods in Topology – OCHoTop
This proposal addresses problems of topology, in the field of fundamental mathematics. The general purpose of our project is to develop applications of operads (an algebraic device) for the definition of invariants associated to links, manifolds and stratified spaces (classical objects of topology).
Presubicular bursting and visual anchoring of the head direction signal – BURST
How the brain encodes spatial orientation depends strongly on vestibular and visual signals, but the cellular and circuit basis for visual anchoring of the internal compass remains unknown.<br />We will focus on the presubiculum, and the feedback to the lateral mammillary nucleus, that seems to rely on intrinsic bursting neurons of layer 4. Our project evolves around the idea that a burst feedback signal has a key role for visual updating of the head direction signal.
Modulating the shift from goal-directed to habitual behaviors by manipulation of dopaminergic striatonigral loops – DOPALOOPS
A canonical hypothesis is that reward and behaviours are bridged by dopaminergic neurons that receive input from the reward-mediating ventral striatum and project to the behavior-mediating dorsal striatum. This central hypothesis is plausible but it has so far not been addressed at a functional or molecular level. Here, we propose to combine automated operant learning paradigms, optogenetics and single-cell RNA-sequencing to explore this hypothesis at a functional and molecular level.
