Structures of Supramolecular Assemblies by Solid-State NMR : the Type II Secretion System Pseudopilus and the Bacteriophage Inner Tail Tube – SUPRAMOL
Many biological processes rely on multifunctional molecular machines. These machines are built by the assembly of multiple copies of a protein subunit into large supramolecular structures. Revealing their structures is challenging since they are insoluble and non-crystalline, recalcitrant to X-ray crystallography and solution NMR. Solid-state NMR can provide atomic details about assembly structures. In this project, I propose to use SSNMR to solve the structures of two biological assemblies.
Hybrid Fuel Cell/Supercapacitors stack – SUPERCAPAC
SUPERCAPAC main objective is the direct hybridization of a Polymer Electrolyte Membrane Fuel Cells (PEMFC) with supercapacitors, with the objective to reach a high level of integration by inserting the supercapacitors within the fuel cell stack.
Such hybrid electricity generators with power ranging from a few tenths of Watt to a few kW could suit a wide variety of -stationary or mobile- nomad applications.
