EpiGenOmics/genomic/metabolic interplay in pathomechanisms of iNborn Errors of methionine metabolism. – EpiGONE
discovered a new type of cblC called epi-cblC produced by an epimutation on MMACHC, which is present in 3 generations [...] epimutation, study of the role of DNMT3B1, histone mark H3K36me3 and SETD2, maintenance of the epimutation [...] using epi-cblC as a model and will provide a perspective for treating severe cases of epi-cblC.
Involvement of circulating fibrocytes in pathophysiology and prognosis of COVID-19 pneumonia – FIBROCO
High circulating levels of fibrocytes are correlated to an unfavourable outcome during acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. COVID-19 pneumonia shares common histological and inflammatory features with ARDS. We aimed to determine the involvement of circulating fibrocytes during the course of COVID-19 pneumonia, and to assess if fibrocytes could be a prognosis biomarker.
Control of cell size and division – CellSize
A long standing biological question is how cells sense their size and coordinate it with cell divisionet . We have described a new pathway controlling cell size at division in fission yeast relying on a spatial gradient of Pom1/DYRK kinase that influences the activity of a Wee1 regulatory pathway for mitotic entry controlled by Cdr2/SAD kinase. How Pom1-Cdr2 module functions in molecular terms is not yet understood. Moreover, other cell size sensors may function in parallel.
A-site Manganites for mAgNetoelectrics and mulTiferroics from extreme conditionS – AMANTS
The hypotheses underpinning this AMANTS project are 1) that a variety of novel A-site based Mn oxide perovskites and related phases can be recovered from high pressure synthesis, and that these new materials will have interesting and potentially useful properties. And 2) that the new playground of “hard-soft” synthesis has an important role on the new A-site Mn2+ materials by modifying their anion lattices.
Total synthesis of 13-desmethyl spirolide C – SPIROSYN
Spirolides, some neurotoxins present in seafood, can be transferred to humans via the food chain, leading to significant health and economic problems. Difficult to isolate, their mode of action is, so far not fully understood. Their synthesis, which has not yet been described, is a scientific challenge and will produce sufficient quantities for toxicological studies.
Structure and function of secretin in the bacterial type II protein secretion system – SECRETIN

Crystal Engineering of Multifunctional Molecule-Based Materials – CREMM
The current project addresses fundamental issues for the understanding of important questions faced today by researchers in Molecular Magnetism, particularly toward the control and the manipulation of magnetic coupling on the one hand, magnetic anisotropy on the other hand.
Process development for novel low temperature plasma synthesized nanocarbon-based biosensors – PlasBioSens
The main objective of the project is the development of novel methods for the synthesis and functionalization of conductive nanocarbons for a new generation of field effect transistors suitable for high sensitivity bio-sensing applications, i.e. label-free detection. The sensors are targeted for the detection of allergens or markers of allergy such as allergen-specific Immunoglobulin E in biofluids.
