Laser Beam and dissimilar materials welding – FLAMme
incompatible materials to redesign the choice of materials, to prepare the arrival of smart materials, to allow [...] behaviour of basic materials. These lines will be led in parallel on model materials then coupled to obtain [...] and leads often to the association of various materials. Because the mechanical junctions or the collage
DRawing of nanoparticlEs-doped Amorphous Materials – Nice-DREAM
Drawing is a key step in the method of manufacturing an optical fiber. This stage is characterized by a very high temperature (~ 2000 ° C) and high mechanical stress. This project aims to understand the behavior of nanoparticles subject to such conditions in order to define the characteristics required in the preform to reach those designed in the fiber.
Telluride glasses as materials for far-infrared applications : a theoretical and spectroscopic investigation – IRTeGlass
Structure of telluride special glasses, transparent in the far infrared domain
Internally Plasticized Cellulose Derivatives: New and Innovative Materials obtained from Sustainable Resources, Chemistry and Processes. – PLACELMAT

Scale transition and coupling for the experimental identification of stochastic models of polycrystalline materials – CouESt
This research project focuses on polycrystalline materials, which include most of the metals and many ceramics [...] considered for the modeling of these polycrystalline materials: a micro-scale at which a model of dynamics of [...] relation between the models of polycrystalline materials at different scales (micro-meso, and meso-macro)
Cracking of polymer bonded materials – FIMALIPO
The casting of aluminum automobile cylinder heads makes use of a large amount of resin-bonded sand-cores. These cores have to be extracted without living any residual sand in the parts. The objective of the project is to develop a complete understanding of the fracture of sandcores with an experimental analysis and predictive numerical modeling. The benefits of this project would improve the manufacturing process regarding the reliability and the cost reduction of these complex parts.
Simulation and experimental analysis of material failure in large scale yielding – SEMAFOR
The SEMAFOR project aims to make significant contributions to experimental characterization, modeling, and numerical simulation of the propagation of fatigue cracks under large scale yielding conditions. This work is motivated by strong industrial requirements for predicting the lifetime of critical aircraft components, particularly combustion chambers where cracks may appear in service.
