Inertial Navigation with Confined Cold Atomss – NIARCOS

Submission summary

The target of this proposal is the development of compact multiaxe/multifunction inertial sensors based on atom chips. In order to make the best use of the centimetric size of the atom chip physical package, we will design and produce compact and robust optical assemblies functionalized for atom interferometry with cold atoms. We will quantify the performance of the realized sensors, and their inertial sensing capabilities will be qualified by operating them in a simulated operational environment. We expect at the end of this R&D program to be able to design a compact transportable multiaxe and multifunction atom chip based inertial sensor.
