Frontières en cognition

Frontiers in Cognition is a unique Ecole Universitaire de Recherche of Ecole normale supérieure - PSL University, for fundamental research on human. Frontiers in Cognition brings together 5 cognitive science research units and a service unit (RISC) and offers a comprehensive training program in cognitive science (master and doctorate).

Since 2018, research has been supported by the following means:

• Renovation of 670m2 of office space
• Start-up grants for 19 new Faculty (10k€ each) and a start-up postdoc for one new Faculty
• Start-up grant for supporting emerging teams (20k€ each) (Evolutionary and social cognition, Vision, Neuroeconomy, DEC linguistics)
• Agreement with the Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle (ICM), for privileged access to neuroimaging technics (MRI and MEG)
• Funded online testing tools (Pavlovia, Labvanced, etc.)
• Funding for 12 post-doctoral fellowships
• Funding for 9 international scientific cooperation programs
• Funding for high-prestige Colloquium series (around 9 sessions per year).
• Salaries of a communication manager, a lab manager (ENS funding from 2023), an IT assistant, and pedagogical secretary (ENS funding from 2021)

Training in cognitive science has been supported by:

• 14 doctoral contracts and 26 end-of-thesis grants
• 2 Master's merit scholarships and 24 student mobility grants
• 41 teaching assignments to doctoral students
• set up a doctoral program (Master + PhD) in cognitive sciences and selected 18 students
• set up a new master in cognitive science (opening in sept 2024)

In terms of commitment to societal issues, Frontiers in Cognition has :

• helped to set up teaching program in a sustainable development
• organized and participated in scientific dissemination to the general public
• set up training courses on sexual and gender-based violence.
