Résumé

Over the past two decades, researchers in Strasbourg have been at the cutting-edge in the emerging field known as the Chemistry of Complex Systems (CSC). CSC is at the crossroads between chemistry, biology, medicine, physics, material science and sustainable development, in particular renewable energy production and “green” chemistry.

The originality of the graduate  school program involves:

1) interdisciplinary research (synthesis, spectroscopies, materials science, theory) tracking complexity with a high level of education in molecular and physical chemistry.

2) an important exposure to research at the Master level including 14-months of internships in academic and international corporate laboratories, an enhanced autonomy through research internships.

3) an entrepreneurship and innovation program based on significant exposure to issues relevant to industrial R&D and the innovation value chain.

4) a leadership training course during the entire five-year period to develop personal and professional soft skills students started.

5) a mentoring system -a close-knit body of students (both Master and PhD levels).

6) The CSC-IGS is highly selective at entry and runs in English to attract students from around the world.

The majorchanges during the past year are

1) Improved M1 seelection process aiming at a larger number of students;

2) Integration of new select PhD students from CSC laboratories.

3) Update the management and leadership program to include specifically the new PhD students and to implement new workshops

4) Sending students M1 to a « high level » summerschhool

5) Support of the Student board” for organisation of meetings and events run by the students for the students.

6) change of the director and the pedagogical director
