Résumé de soumission

Cluster of excellence in the fields of Cosmology and Astroparticle/Particle Physics spanning the geographic arc Marseille-Montpellier-Toulouse, OCEVU develops an original interdisciplinary approach to the exploration and the study of the Universe, from the large scales of cosmology to the small scales of particle physics, combining experimental, observational, and theoretical points of view. Built on the strengths and complementarity of teams of 6 labs: CPPM, CPT and LAM in Marseille; L2C/IFAC and LUPM in Montpellier; IRAP/GAHEC in Toulouse, it involves 140 permanent scientists, 120 postdocs and PhD students, and 160 high level engineers and technicians. It is managed by Aix-Marseille University (through the A*MIDEX University Foundation) with CNRS and Montpellier and Toulouse III Universities as partners.

In 2012, the OCEVU management has been set up, including its steering, scientific, executive committees. Since, 5 General Workshops gathering the OCEVU community have been organized (2 in Marseille and Toulouse, 1 in Montpellier) and OCEVU has engaged in numerous actions of its programme. In research : 5 major Calls for Proposals competitively selected 50 projects including recruitment at an international level of 15 PhD students and 19 1-to-3yr postdocs, invitation of 12 foreign senior scientists, organization of 22 international conferences; consolidation of technological platforms for space and instrumentation. In education: construction and setup of platforms with a national scope to teach Astronomy (IRiS) at OHP and Astroparticules (ePERON) at the Pic du Midi Observatory; organization of 4 Physics Summer Camps for 11th grade high-school students and Licence-2 students, of our 3 Academies and Universities. In outreach: several exhibitions and conferences in Marseille, Montpellier and Toulouse; multimedia projects. In transfer, exploration of two promising innovative R&Ds: new technologies for pixel cameras and low-cost and reliable submarine connectors.
