DigiCosme is one of the 103 Laboratories of Excellence, funded by the ANR, whose extension has been granted for the period 2020-2024.

Started in 2012, the LabEx aims at addressing some of the major challenges raised by the revolution of digital technology, based on the excellent potential for research, training, and development of innovation in ICST at the Paris-Saclay site.

Since 2012, DigiCosme has played an important role in the ICST community of the Paris-Saclay site by encouraging and funding collaborations between 14 laboratories of a dozen institutions or universities around 3 axes: intelligent networks, safe and reliable programs, and data science. To date, 39 PhD theses involving at least two collaborating laboratories were funded, while thirty working groups, with funding for postdocs and engineers, ensure a dynamic networking of the themes of the 3 axes. The activity of 5 young researchers arriving on the site has been strongly supported through Emergence projects, thus enabling them to develop collaborations on site, beyond their home lab.

DigiCosme has also contributed to strengthening the link between the Master's degree and the laboratories through multiple actions: 106 Master's scholarships, 2 "Junior conferences", a prize for the best scientific production by a PhD student (with the STIC doctoral school from the University Paris-Saclay and the Institut Polytechnique de Paris doctoral school). The visiting professors program has also helped to consolidate interactions between teams and enhanced the visibility of the site.

DigiCosme also contributes to the promotion of computer science through the organization of a programming competition at the high school level. Finally, DigiCosme has also acted for innovation through multiple interactions with the University's SATT Paris-Saclay, the Systematic cluster and the IRT SystemX.
