The conversion efficiency for Si-based photovoltaics (PV) has reached a record 26.7%, which is close to the theoretical limit. To go beyond this, THESIS aims to benefit from the combination of the maturity of Si technology with the potential yield gains associated with emerging PV, through the development of a new PV tandem. This involves the integration of a perovskite solar cell stacked on a Si solar cell with interdigital contacts on the back side.
Chronic consumption of hypercaloric diets may trigger a ‘neuronal identity crisis’ in certain subpopulations of hypothalamic neurons due to the impaired action of the T-box gene 3 (Tbx3), a transcription factor that maintains hypothalamic neurons identity during postnatal life. Such a loss of identity may undermine the working machinery of POMC neurons, ultimately leading to obesity and its associated metabolic complications, albeit this hypothesis has yet to be investigated.
SIlicon Carbide NAnoProbes and optical Signal Enhancement for intracellular transport investigation in 3D cultures of neurons – SINAPSE
In this project, we propose to analyze the optical response of SiC nanocrystals excited in the infrared (second window of transparency of biological tissues). Such nanoprobes can be used to analyze the intracellular movement of vesicles in 3D neural networks. The project plans to develop an agile microscope to detect these nanoprobes in deep tissues, but also to take advantage of metallic nanoantennas to enhance the optical signals from the probes.

Bioterra : control of the microbial proliferation on earth bio-based products for healthy and sustainable buildings – BIOTERRA
The BIOTERRA project addresses two major issues of the construction: <br />- The use of materials with low environmental impact for the construction of healthy , comfortable and durable habitats (bio-based earth construction materials (bricks and plaster)) <br />- The indoor air quality by controlling microbial proliferation that could have impacts on the health of the résidents.
Le 19 janvier, Jacqueline Lecourtier, directeur de l'ANR et le Professeur Matthias Kleiner, Président de la DFG (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft), ont signé à Bonn une convention permettant le lancement par les deux agences d'un appel à projets commun dans le domaine des Sciences Humaines et Sociales. Il s'agit de la première initiative de ce type, mais les discussions ont aussi permis d'envisager d'autres perspectives de collaboration et l'élargissement de cette coopération à différents domaines de la recherche. Il a été également convenu que les responsables des deux agences se rencontreraient régulièrement, chaque année, pour faire le bilan de leur action commune et engager de nouvelles opérations. La prochaine réunion se tiendra à Paris fin 2007.
Human activities linked to nuclear industry generate ionizing radiation. However, their ecotoxicological properties are poorly studied on non-human organisms. This project proposes using the honeybees as a model to study the effects of ionizing radiation on major physiological functions, and also at individual and population levels. Honeybees are insects of economic, agro-environmental, societal and scientific importance.
