The research project concentrates on portrait statues from the Ancient Greek world from the 5th to the 1st centuries BC. The idea is to study the dynamic processes of transmission, reception and changes from when they were erected to when they were destroyed. Studying from one side the “portrait practices”, such as coronations, repairs or honorary customs based on them and from the other side their “recontextualisation”, in other words the alterations in their environment or their utilizations.

From the Late Empire, the epistolary genre experienced a revival, especially under the influence of Christianity. This literary genre, inherited from Antiquity, diversified and experiences a protean transformation. Although it was the object of many literary studies, it remained undervalued in historical research, especially the Late Antiquity and Middle Ages.
The collaborative research is carried out by the Institute of health law of the University of Neuchâtel and the CDS, GREDIAUC and LTD of the University of Aix-Marseille. The alliance between these laboratories will permit a decompartmentalized and integrated approach, embracing health and social policies. The partners are used to working together, as a doctoral thesis has constituted the first step of an international collaborative research.
