Role of Sting in lymphocyte development and function – LYMPHO-STING
STING drives type I interferon (IFN) and inflammatory responses. Patients with STING gain of function (GOF) mutations develop an autoinflammatory disease (SAVI). We reported a new mouse model of STING GOF, with severe type I IFN-independent combined immune deficient (SCID) phenotype, affecting all lymphoid lineages, with lymphoid functional defects partly described in SAVI patients. We propose to characterize the mechanisms underlying the new role of STING in lymphoid development and function.
Plasmodium sporozoite neutralization in the host skin – SporoSTOP
Plasmodium sporozoites (SPZ) are motile forms of malaria-causing parasites transmitted by the mosquito into the host skin . SPZ motility is essential to access the blood circulation and can be inhibited by antibodies against the circumsporozoite protein (CSP). Recently, we discovered anti-CSP cytotoxic antibodies that target SPZ in the skin. Here, we intend to characterize how and what antibodies are neutralizing SPZ in the tissues and correlate their in vitro activities with protection in vivo.
Hijacking of the HAUSP/p53 pathway by the Toxoplasma protein GRA16: a mechanism regulating p53-dependent metabolism, cell fate and immune signaling during toxoplasmosis? – ToxoP53
Basic research effort aimed at better understanding the parasite Toxoplasma gondii's interference processes with its host. The findings of this investigation will allow researchers to investigate novel toxoplasmosis prevention and treatment options.
Mechanics of Embryonic Self-Organization and Plasticity – Embryonics
Characterization of the mechanical forces at play during the self-organized development of the vertebrate embryo
spreading of granular pastes: from the particle to end use properties – PASTFLOW
Granular pastes such as gypsum pastes or fresh concrete play an important role in the manufacture of various products in the construction, chemical and food industries. These materials are non-Newtonian fluids whose complex rheological properties need to be understood and described with the help of physical models in order to optimise the end-use properties of these products in conjunction with their formulation.

High-throughput screening tools for a reinforced chemical safety surveillance of food – SENTINEL
The European Parliament has called on Member States to strengthen their food safety control mechanisms by 2019. In July 2018, the French government has launched the SCA platform to strengthen the coverage and the efficiency of the surveillance. To reach this objective, it is necessary for both food safety authorities and industry to get high-throughput and cost-effective screening methods to monitor priority hazards throughout the food chain.
LIPOMEC: TOWARDS A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF RUMINANT MILK LIPOLYSIS THROUGH AN INTEGRATIVE BIOLOGY APPROACH IN MILK AND MAMMARY EPITHELIAL CELLS (MEC) – LIPOMEC
Milk lipolysis is the breakdown of milk fat by an enzyme, the lipoprotein lipase, resulting in the release of free fatty acids in milk. This may lead to the development of a rancid flavor in milk considered unacceptable by the consumer beyond a certain threshold. Moreover, the presence of partial glycerides in milk interferes with technological processes in the industrial processing of dairy foods. It is therefore important to limit lipolysis to preserve the quality of milk.
Live-tracking rhizobial switch from rhizosphere to plant-confined colonization modes – Live-Switch
Legumes establish a beneficial root nodule-forming nitrogen-fixing symbiosis with rhizobia for improved growth. The early stages of this interaction involve key molecular exchanges and the reprogramming of plant cells for bacterial entry. However, little is known about how rhizobia cope with the drastic shift to a confined host environment at this stage. Live-Switch addresses this question by studying the reprogramming of rhizobia and the dialogue with the plant partner at the single cell level.
