DIAMond instrumentation for pulsed beam MONItoring
By a bio-mimicry approach, the project aims to improve the anaerobic digestion processes using animal models, both at the level of processes and at the level of microbial communities. This multidisciplinary approach combines: modeling of different digestive systems, copies of two laboratory-scale digestive systems and structural and functional description of the associated microbial communities.
Combination of lignocellulosic biomass hydrolysis and fermentation steps can lead to lower process costs for the 2nd generation bio-ethanol industry, but also brings constraints to the enzymes' activities. The objective of this project is to adapt several enzymes to these constraints.
