Turbulence and dynamo in planetary cores – TuDy
Numerical dynamo simulations have brought a lot about the role of rotation in the generation of magnetic fields in
planets and stars.
Nevertheless, the organization of small-scale fluctuations remains out of reach of these simulations. If we try
to build plausible scenarios of the cascade of kinetic and magnetic energies from the measured large-scales
down, we see that classical ideas on magnetohydrodynamic turbulence would yield unrealistic estimates of dissipation in the Earth’s core.
Catalyst activation driven by photoinduced electron transfer – PET-Cat
Most examples of photocontrolled transition metal catalysts rely on the photodissociation or photodecomposition of ligands in coordinatively-saturated metal complexes to generate vacant active sites. We wish to apply the concept of catalyst activation driven by photoinduced electron transfer to a metal cation as a powerful strategy to switch on the activity of a metal catalyst that is inactive in its high–valent oxidized form but active in its low–valent reduced form.
Enantioselective synthesis of furan and pyridine atropisomers by central-to-axial chirality interconversion – SynthAx
New heteroatropisomeric derivatives of the 4-aryl-furan or -pyridine series are obtained by organocatalysis allowing the control of central chirality, followed by an oxidative aromatization step triggering the formation of the corresponding atropisomers with high levels of central to axial chirality conversions.

alpha-v-beta-8 integrin expression regulation and its role in immune homeostasis in the gut – InteReg
TGF-b plays a critical role in maintaining gut immune homeostasis. TGF-b must be activated, which thus represents a major point of regulation of intestinal immune responses.
Expression of alpha-v-beta-8 integrin (avb8) by dendritic cells (DCs) is required to activate TGF-b so that it can signal to T cells. Furthermore, avb8 expression is is tightly regulated. However the mechanisms by which avb8 expression, and thus the ability to activate TGF-b, is restricted to this subset of DCs are unknown.

Recognition and diffusion of visualities in the German speaking social sciences – VISUALL
The interdisciplinary debates whose topic is the image, the visuality and the visual practices have increased tremendously in Germany and in German-speaking countries in the last few years. The speeding-up of this movement is developing the problematics structuring the visual set of themes that were outlined about twenty years ago and are still alive in the German-speaking Academic world.
A reasoned cartography of these visual epistemics allows to reinforce the french approaches.
Molecular and cellular basis underlying the humanization of synaptic development – SYNHUMA
Our understanding of the human brain and its diseases is impeded by our ignorance of the mechanisms underlying synaptic development and their specificities in humans. Here, we propose to study novel evolutionary mechanisms that have the capacity to modify the cell biology and the plasticity of synapses. Our work will focus on the role of the human-specific duplications of SRGAP2 (Slit-Robo GTPase-activating protein 2).
