Virtual reality to train medical experts in team management in crisis situations: the ANR VICTEAMS project
Managing a complex crisis situation causing a huge influx of injuries (terrorist attack, natural disaster etc.) requires medical leaders to make decisions quickly and pass them on fully to their team while controlling their own stress and emotions. Current training methods (serious games, life-sized simulations etc.) are mostly centred on technical medical acts and are often limited and costly. The members of the VICTEAMS project, co-funded by ANR and DGA, have therefore designed a complementary virtual tool to train civilian and military emergency response staff to adapt to potential disruptions in crisis situations and develop their non-technical team management skills.
