The Miocene-Pliocene transition: emergence of the modern carbon cycle – MioCarb
The objective of the MioCarb project is to quantify the impact of the Biogenic Bloom event - an event of high primary productivity - on the Late Miocene - Early Pliocene transition. This time interval corresponds to a transition to cooler clilmatic conditions and would be linked to a decrease in the level of CO2 in the atmosphere. The objective of MioCarb is therefore to quantify budgets in order to determine whether the high primary productivity is the cause of the decrease in atmospheric CO2.
Intelligent Estimation Algorithms for Smart Mobility – ArtISMo
The development of controllers with high performance and reliability for connected and autonomous vehicles (CAVs) will require real-time measurements or estimates of many variables on each vehicle. Examples of variables that are needed for feedback include: longitudinal distances, velocities and accelerations of other nearby vehicles; lateral position of the vehicle in its own lane; vehicle yaw angle; slip angle; yaw rate; steering angle; lateral acceleration; and roll angle.
Miniaturized Multi-axis Quantum Sensors – MiniXQuanta
The primary goal of this project is to realize a miniaturized cold-atom interferometer that is capable of measuring the full three-dimensional acceleration and rotation vectors. To simplify and miniaturize the multi-axis sensor, a diffraction grating will generate all the beams required using a single incident laser. Finally, we will realize the first multi-axis interferometer with ultra-cold atoms on a hybrid magneto-grating chip.

SOft MAtter dynamics with Dlaunay-based Neighbours Search – SOMA-DNS
The SOMA-DNS project aims at developing new simulation algorithms using GPUs (graphics card processors) for colloidal suspensions. The consortium of this project gathers two research teams from Limoges, XLIM and IrCer, and a Chilean team specialized in GPU computing.
CooperAtive MachinE Learnning and OpTimization – CAMELOT
The goal of the Chaire CaMeLOt is to address the modern challenges of crowd-sourcing, peer-grading and to provide a unified mathematical framework and efficient algorithms to cope with cooperative and decentralized learning and optimization.
Aerosol-Cloud Interactions: the role of organic compounds on cloud droplet activation – ORACLE
ORACLE aims to fundamentally improve the understanding of the role organics play in CCN activation through combined experimental and modelling work. The main objectives are:
- First, to investigate the evolution of surface tension in a growing solution droplet
- Second, to elucidate the effect of co-condensation on particle growth and surface tension

The French Yellow Vests: A Pluridisciplinary Approach to Popular Politicization and Mobilization – GILETSJAUNES
This multidisciplinary project documents the participation in the GJ. It sheds light on the politicisation, the scope of the protest, its media, political and social reception. It is based on a corpus of quantitative and qualitative data collected since 2018, supplemented by questionnaires, interviews, observations, and grievance books. The comparative approach and the multidisciplinary approach give an account of the movement in its different dimensions and configurations.
Gender based violence and intersectionality in the French overseas territories – VIdOM
This project aims to contribute, both theoretically and empirically, to the field of gender-based violence studies and engages an intersectional perspective. It posits that the postcolonial context and socioeconomic characteristics of the three overseas territories studied – Guadeloupe, Martinique, and Reunion Island – intensify the role of certain factors associated with the risk of violence and complicate pathways out of violent situations. The project follows on from the Virage Outre-mer survey (Ined, 2018).
