Learning causal effects between phenome and exposome from large amounts of heterogeneous data in human complex diseases.
Reducing sodium intake has been identified as an efficient lever to prevent noncommunicable diseases. Key sources of sodium include manufactured food products but also discretionary salt, namely salt added by consumers during the preparation and cooking of meals and at the table when seasoning. However, discretionary salt has been largely neglected so far, in spite of the fact that it deserves to be considered to pursue the sodium intake reduction.
The EQLIPSE project is positioned in the context of extension of the production period of laying hens. In particular it aims to study the consequences of this extension on the quality and natural defenses of eggs and to identify levers to control internal alterations induced by hen age and egg storage conditions.
Modeling strategies that can describe the peculiar thermal response of cement-based materials from the underlying physics will represent an advance in the field by enhancing the confidence on the predictions of the performance and durability of cement-based materials. Also, the knowledge obtained from modelling can be used to advance in the design cement-based materials with tailored thermal properties, following the example of the research on other micro- and mesoporous materials.
Only 25% of patients with primary or secondary liver tumors are candidates for curative treatment. Focused ultrasound has the potential to be a new therapeutic option but major innovations are needed. The challenge of the TONUS project is to implement these breakthrough innovations and to demonstrate the feasibility, efficacy and preclinical safety of this new treatment in order to be able to start using it in clinically.
