High Performance computing for quantifying climate change impacts on boreal areas – HiPerBorea
HiPerBorea aims to enable quantitative and predictive modeling of the thermo-hydrological evolution of cold environments covered by permafrost (25% of lands of northern hemisphere) under climate change. Permafrost thaw is associated with major feed-backs on greenhouse gases cycles (e.g.: thawing of previously frozen organic carbon pools).
Trillions of gut microbes to rescue AED: the microbiome associated to clinical response in children epilepsy – TrilliAED
Pharmacoresistance to anti-epileptic drugs (AED, ~30 molecules) is a major burden to patients and society, with approximately 25% of the 70 millions worldwide epileptic patients being drug-resistant. Numerous hypotheses explaining resistance to AEDs have been addressed and involve genetic and epigenetic host factors, disease severity, transporters and targets hypothesis etc. Yet part of the resistance may be linked to the metabolism of AEDs by the microbiome.
Self-organization of passive and active virus-based colloids: theory and experiments – VIRO-Lego
This project aims to create and address the self-assembly of novel anisotropic responsive colloidal particles based on fd virus and introduce «patchy: interactions through the creation of hybrid virus-metal nanorods consisting of end-functionalized fd rods with tunable, thermo-responsive site-specific interactions. Experiments will be supplemented with theoretical modelling.
Effects of the urban environment on individual performance at a multi-populational level in great tits – URBANTIT
A risky market? The emergence of predictive maintenance of military systems in France – PREDICT-OP
Predict Op studies the emergence of digital data markets in the military domain from a dual perspective of economic sociology and organizational sociology. This concerns both the predictive maintenance of equipment, the «soldier of the future« and the construction of an infrastructure capable of supporting the transmission of massive data (data center, etc.).
New insights in the development and dynamics of floral nectar to improve the survival of insect pollinators and the pollination of cucurbits – NECTAR
Yields have risen steadily throughout the history of human cultivation. However, in the course of last decades pollinator decline have emerged as a major threat. This is more tragic, knowing that yields of 87 out of 115 leading global food crops depend of animal-mediated pollination with bees as mean vectors. Our project addresses the challenge to bring new insights to genes controlling key traits related to floral nectar secretion, pollination and resources to pollinators.
Controlling ELECTROnic phase transitions in molecular materials by non-linear PHONonics – ELECTROPHONE
Electronique phase transitions in molecular materials controlled by non-linear phononic
Decoding the vRNP interaction network of influenza A viruses required for genome packaging – FluCode
In humans, the influenza A viruses cause seasonal flu epidemics and occasionally devasting pandemics. They also cause pandemics in animals (birds, pigs, etc), which constitue an economic burden. The Orthomyxoviridae, including influenza A viruses, are characterized by a segmented genome consisting of 6-8 single stranded RNA of negative polarity (8 in the case of influenza A viruses)
IoniC LIquid Crystals: Towards TunAble-by-Design ElectroLytes – CITADEL
Its overarching goal is to deliver proof of concept demonstration of efficient nanoconfined ionic transport going beyond current state of the art performances of currently used electrolytes to trigger the dawn of safer-by-design next generations key enabling technology (KET) 2.0 solutions in reply to mankind’s energy needs.
