JPI OCEANS: Launching of a first international call for proposals in the area of marine environment contaminants
ANR, in collaboration with its European partners, has just launched a brand new international call for proposals on the ecological aspects of microplastics in the marine environment. This call comes under the Joint Programming Initiative "JPI OCEANS". The deadline for submitting projects is 31st March 2015.
Could insects represent an alternative resource for animal feed?
Insects are rich in proteins and fats, and they constitute the basis of the diet of many animals. They have been used in Asian cooking for hundreds of years and today are used by the food industry to produce ingredients that enter into the composition of everyday food products. The cochineal (also known as scale insect or mealybug), for example, produces the natural dye used as a colorant in certain sweets. In a context of increasing scarcity of resources, insects - so far underexploited as a commodity - could be a source of raw materials. This, at least, is the postulate of the Desirable project, which has been funded by ANR since 2013 under its Sustainable Food Systems programme.

Claims and nutritional messages: what are the impacts on consumer choices?
When consumers choose their food, they are faced with a lot of information that is often contradictory. Recommendations from health authorities, positions adopted by experts in the media, messages disseminated by the food industry, etc. How do consumers interpret these different messages? Do they influence their choice of what they eat? It is with the aim of examining these questions, and the impact of claims in particular, that the ALLEGNUTRI project was set up. Funded in 2006 under the ANR's National Programme on Food and Nutrition (PNRA), its results were presented at the end of 2014 at a conference organised by the FFAS - Fonds Français Alimentation & Santé (French Fund for Food and Health).
"Hosting High-Level Researchers" 2015: the call for candidacies is open
ANR has just published the second edition of the "Hosting High-Level Researchers" call. This funding instrument dedicated to individuals and open to all scientific fields enables "junior" or "senior" researchers from any country to carry out an ambitious research project in a reputed institution in France. The ANR funding is designed to help French laboratories fulfil their role as host and researchers to conduct their research. The call closing date is scheduled for 29th May 2015.
LabCom Archipex, working to develop new drug formulations

Baptised Archi-pex (from "Peptidic architectures and formulations"), this structure will be supported for three years by ANR through the LabCom instrument.
Hosting high-level researchers: A win-win initiative
In a global context of researcher mobility, ANR wishes to help reinforce the scientific positioning of France while at the same time offering a first-class welcome to foreign researchers. Consequently the agency is proposing a new funding instrument dedicated to individuals baptised "Hosting high-level researchers" (@RAction) to enable scientists of any nationality to carry out a research project in a reputed institution in France. The ANR funding is designed to help French laboratories fulfil their role as host. This instrument comes under the "international attractiveness of France" part of the ANR Work Programme 2014.
First Haitian sessions on higher education
