Endocrine disruptors: a day of Anses/ANR scientific meetings

What effects do endocrine disruptors have on human health? Where do these substances come from? What do we know about how they mechanisms of action? To assess the state of research progress and encourage discussions between researchers, the public authorities and all the stakeholders, Anses and ANR are organising a day of reporting on the projects funded in Paris on 8 July 2019.

Substances able to interfere with our hormonal system, endocrine disruptors can be found in food, cosmetics, packaging, medicines and crop treatment products. Faced with the specific natures of these compounds and the diverse sources of exposure, developing research is crucial in order to better understand their effects depending on exposure doses and vulnerability periods and to reinforce risk monitoring, prevention and management. These issues are at the heart of the new draft national endocrine disruptors strategy (SNPE2) covering the period 2019-2022.

In this context, Anses and ANR are coming together once again at a day of scientific conferences to present the achievements of the research projects funded by the Anses national employment, health and employment research programme (PNR EST) and several ANR calls for proposals. ANR has funded 78 projects in this field since 2005.

Aimed at scientific communities, stakeholders and anyone interested in the subject, the day is divided into three themed sessions in which project coordinators will present their work:

• Effects of endocrine disruptors on offspring
• Mechanisms of action: low doses and combinations
• Other effects of endocrine disruptors

Endocrine disruptor research prospects will be addressed at the end of the day.
