The French National Research Agency publishes its 2020 activity report

Discover through a series of articles, interviews and key figures, the activities and highlights of the French National Research Agency (ANR) in 2020, illustrated by the presentation of numerous projects supported in all fields.

A year marked by an exceptional health context

At the heart of French research, ANR has supported many players (scientific communities, companies, communities, institutions, etc.) since its creation in 2005, and promotes quality research for the common good and to meet the challenges of tomorrow.

Faced with the scale of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Agency mobilised in an unprecedented and exceptional way throughout 2020 to continue its missions, strengthen its support to scientific communities and respond to the urgency of research needs. ANR has also carried out several actions to support scientific communities and strengthen its commitments, in particular for the promotion of a research culture based on integrity, Open Science practices, and gender equality. Its commitments are also reflected in the Investments for the Future Programmes (PIA) that it operates, and the national plans that it implements.

2020 was also marked by the 2021-2030 research programming law, which consolidates the Agency's missions and strengthens its resources, along with the France Relance plan for 2021-2022.

In the 2020 ANR activity report you will find a special section which reviews the Agency's mobilisation in response to the Covid-19 pandemic, along with details of ANR’s ecosystem and funding opportunities, its organisation and governance; and a set of projects illustrating the diversity and excellence of the research supported by the Agency.
