"For a Europe of Social Sciences and Humanities" symposium organised to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Franco-German ANR-DFG call (FRAL), on 14 and 15 June 2022 in Paris

Join us in Paris on 14 and 15 June 2022 to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the Franco-German call for proposals in Social Sciences and Humanities (FRAL), on Opening Night and during a one-day symposium to disseminate the knowledge resulting from funded projects to a wide audience. This event is hosted by the French National Research Agency (ANR) and the German Research Foundation (DFG), in French and German, and is open to all upon registration.

Promoting the status of Franco-German SSH cooperation in the European Research Area

Under the guidance of the French Presidency of the Council of the European Union, the ANR wishes to celebrate the exemplary cooperation with its first international partner, the DFG, and the advantages it brings to Europe.

Since 2007, scientists and their bilateral teams, who are the main stakeholders of this cooperation, have been conducting fundamental research projects in various areas, such as economics, political science, management, languages and literature, psychology, philosophy, history, archaeology and art history.

Through conferences, round tables and thematic panels, this event will promote the diversity of the projects supported over the past fifteen years, along with the results achieved, and will foster a discussion on the Franco-German research of tomorrow. The event targets scientific communities in Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH), institutional research stakeholders, and anyone wishing to find out more about the FRAL call for proposals.

A multidisciplinary scientific programme

The Opening Night will be held on Tuesday 14 June 2022 from 19:00 at the Palais de la Porte Dorée in Paris. Bénédicte Savoy, an art historian, and professor at the Collège de France, will give a lecture on Franco-German artistic relations through the lens of colonial history.

The scientific day, held on Wednesday 15 June, hosted at the Cité internationale de Paris from 09:00 to 17:30, will be fully dedicated to research teams and their efforts. The projects selected of the FRAL call for proposals will be invited to present and share, as part of nine thematic panels, their knowledge generated by their projects.

This day will also be include plenary conferences on Franco-German complementarity in building European knowledge, and three round tables on "Putting research at work" where the winners of the FRAL call for proposals will discuss the purposes, methods and challenges of Franco-German research.

All speeches will be accessible in French and German through a simultaneous translation system.
