ERA-NET ForestValue Kick-Off Seminar on Forest Sector Innovation and Competitiveness

Researchers and stakeholders in the forest-based sector: find out about the objectives and approaches of the 17 projects selected under the "Innovating forest-based bioeconomy” ForestValue transnational call involving the ANR and discuss the challenges of the sector during a free seminar open to all on 23 and 24 May 2019 in Helsinki, Finland. Registrations are open until 10 May.

In the context of climate change, sustainable forest management and exploitation is required to better anticipate and mitigate its consequences, primarily through the carbon sequestration capacity of the forests, while also promoting their economic and ecosystem services.

For this reason, in 2017, funding agencies and organisations from 19 countries, including the French National Research Agency (ANR), launched the ForestValue call for proposals to support projects aimed at developing new strategies, methods, processes or products in the forestry sector, by involving the various stakeholders, while also guaranteeing the competitiveness and production of bio-sourced products and sustainable services. The call for proposals has, in particular, encouraged collaboration between research bodies, industry and small and medium-sized enterprises and promoted interdisciplinary approaches.

In order to present the aims of the 17 projects selected and to encourage exchanges and feedback between the private and public players in the sector, a seminar is being organised on 23 and 24 May 2019 at the National Museum of Finland in Helsinki.

Registration is open, within the limits of available seats, at this address until 10 May
