Covid-19: publication of a progress report of ANR actions and funded projects

The French National Research Agency (ANR) has published a progress report on the Covid-19 research support scheme set up by the ANR at the start of the pandemic: the three dedicated calls, the Covid priority in the Generic Call for Proposals (AAPG 2021) and the Action-Lebanon call for proposals. In total, 317 projects have been funded, for a total of 47 million euros.

This report gives an overview of scientific productions, actions to promote and disseminate the results, and some outstanding results from the projects supported from the “Covid-19 Flash”, “Covid-19 Research-Action” and “Covid-19 Resilience” calls. These dedicated calls provided support to the scientific community’s commitment to generate knowledge of the different dimensions of the pandemic and its management.

It provides a first analysis in terms of scientific production for the 279 projects funded in the three Covid-19 calls for proposals: publications, international collaborations, patents, clinical trials, contribution to expertise. These projects enable the production of 321 academic publications as of 26 October 2021, with more than 96% in open access.

The presentation of some outstanding results by thematic areas is supplemented by a census of scientific production from the projects.

This progress report is based on the reports submitted by the teams, and a bibliometric analysis.

A scientific review symposium will be held in collaboration with ANR partners: ANRS-MIE (the French Research Agency for AIDS and Emerging Infectious Diseases), Aviesan (the French National Alliance for Life Sciences and Health), the Fondation de France, the French Foundation for Medical Research, and regions, in early 2023.
