A Social-Ecological System Approach towards a Sustainable Intensification of Agricultural Production in Sub-Saharan Africa – SESASA
The project aims at developing a “System of Systems” concept to assess land-use and land-management change scenarios to strengthen sustainable water management and food security for the Sudanian-Savannah region. This will be achieved by analyzing social-ecological system interactions including local stakeholder knowledge, human management impacts and nature responses at nested scales. The scenario-simulation will deliver bundles of management strategies to improve food and water securities.
Toxicity and mitigation of Versicolorin A, a new fungal mycotoxin – VersiTox
Versicolorin (VerA) is the precursor in the biosynthesis of the toxin Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1). Both molecules are produced in food commodities colonized by fungal species from the Aspergillus genera and so usually co-contaminate food. Whereas AFB1 is a known dangerous toxin for which regulations exist, little is known on the toxicity of VerA. The results of this project are essential for the assessment of the danger associated with the presence of VerA in food.
''Insane persons'' and ''native''. A legal history of a double discrimination in the French Africa (end of 9th-1960) – AMIAF
The AMIAF research project intends to carry out a legal and historical survey of the legal administrative discourses and practices which determined the construction and functioning of the status of native madness in African territories colonised by France between the last two decades of the 19th century and 1960.
Greatwall/ENSA/PP2A-B55: A new pathway in the control of S phase progression and the DNA damage checkpoint – REPLIGREAT
We identified a role of the Greatwall(Gwl)/ENSA/PP2A-B55 pathway in S phase control via the regulation of the stability of Treslin, a master replication factor controlling origin firing. Our preliminary data also suggest an impact of this pathway in the stability of additional proteins controlling replication fork progression. Moreover, because its capacity to modulate Treslin stability, this pathway could participate to late origin firing inhibition upon intra S phase checkpoint activation.
Molecular modelling of the organic solvent nanofiltration process: a better understanding for a better use – MANIAC
The fast depletion of energy resources together with environmental constraints force the various industries to strive for more sustainable separation and purification processes. In this respect, the recent organic solvent nanofiltration process has received increasing attention. However, its industrial development remains limited so far because of the lack of understanding of the molecular mechanisms involved in non-aqueous separations.
Physio-mechanical investigation of a synthetic elastic protein as a molecular prothesis to heal arteriopathies related to elastic fibre defects – Arterylastic
The loss of elasticity observed during aging and in certain genetic diseases has serious consequences on cardiovascular function such as hypertension, heart failure and even rupture of the arteries. Apart from vascular restorative surgery, there is no treatment to improve the elasticity of the vessels. This project proposes to deliver an elastic synthetic protein in the arterial walls to reinforce their mechanical properties.
Anthropogenic isolation of populations: a combination of historical and experimental approaches in a context of climate change – ISOLAPOP
These anthropogenic activities are a part of local economic systems for a long time, without taking into [...] under a context of climate change. The major goal is to propose sustainable management within a vulnerable [...] ecosystems functioning. Stocking in lakes and rivers is a common practice worldwide, providing to fishermen
Key pathogenicity determinants of the adaptation of a nematode pest to a resistant host plant – ADMIRE
resistance is not inherited as a Mendelian character. Recently, we have made a series of breakthroughs in [...] that food production will need to increase by 70%. A major constraint to achieve these targets is crop [...] economic importance. These biotrophic parasites have a worldwide distribution and can infect almost all
