Mobile assistance system for intervention in RN environment – SPADASSIN-RN

Submission summary

Malicious acts or accidents in the radiological field prompt us to think about the development of a new comprehensive and integrated Radiologic & Nuclear (RN) crisis management system. The SPADASSIN-RN project (Mobile Assistance System for intervention in RN environment) proposes the development of tools embedded on operator’s helmet and limbs, in order to locate, identify, dimension and visualize in real time hazardous areas. The project is divided into 5 main topics including the development of smart sensors that can be carried or dropped by the operator, encrypted tools for real-time transmission of data, tools for signal analysis, rendering of relevant information for Recon operators with augmented reality. The objective, that will be tested during field exercises is thus to optimize the safe operational response of the teams, from strategic and tactical command to field operator’s level.
