Closed loop feedback system based on virtual reality for real-time analysis of interactions in fish schools – VR-FISHSCHOOL

Submission summary

The aim of this project is to build a close-loop system based on virtual reality to measure and analyze in real time the interactions between fish and theirs effects on individual and collective behaviors. This innovative experimental setup will provide the opportunity to investigate how the combination of multiple local interactions between fish can lead to coordinated collective motion in a fish school. This closed-loop system will not only make possible to test models on individual-level interactions and their role in collective motion, but it will also provide the opportunity to analyze, in controlled and repeatable conditions, the influence of multiple information sources on a fish behavior. We thus expect to get new insights on the integration of information at individual level that will be used to build new and testable mathematical models of individual and collective motion in fish.
