Chemical synthesis with a flow platform integrating self-adaptive algorithms and autonomous NMR structural determination – DigitalChem

Submission summary

Chemical synthesis is facing a digital revolution which is profoundly modifying the way chemists perform chemical transformations. Chemistry 4.0 will massively take advantage of integrated IT systems, algorithms, and automated machines. Chemical laboratories 4.0 will become miniaturized, (semi)autonomous and connected while chemists will be released from the drudgery of routine and repetitive tasks to focus on more creative tasks. Through DigitalChem we will develop a fully integrated flow platform designed to autonomously work from reaction discovery to optimization through the massive use of digital technologies. To reach such an ambitious objective we will develop the world’s first flow platform integrating screening and optimization algorithms, autonomous structural determination by in-line NMR analysis. Application to the discovery of novel catalytic systems for the oxidative coupling of phenols of pharmaceutical relevance will be a major objective of DigitalChem.
