Transnational call: Interventions Moving forward to Promote ACTion to counteract the emergence and spread of bacterial and fungal resistance and to improve treatments (IMPACT-JPIAMR2024)

The French National Research Agency (ANR) is participating in an international call for projects launched by JPIAMR and by the ERA-NET JPIAMR-ACTION. The call involves 21 funding organizations from 19 countries. The total call budget is about 19 million euros. Proposals will be evaluated in two steps (pre-proposal/ full proposal).

While antibiotic resistance was responsible for 1.27 million deaths worldwide in 2019 (Murray et al., 2022), and antifungal resistance is progressing, rapid actions are needed. Without effective preventive actions, or new drugs and new treatment protocols, 10 million deaths could result from AMR in 2050.

The objective of this call is to identify the most effective interventions to prevent the emergence and spread of AMR and to treat antibacterial or antifungal drug resistant infections.

Through this call, the ERA-NET JPIAMR-ACTION intends to create and reinforce the collaboration between research partners coming from different countries and different fields of expertise to promote research on antibiotic resistance.  Consortia must include a minimum of 3 eligible partners asking for funding from 3 different countries participating in the call (Australia, Belgium, Canada, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom), including at least 2 European countries or associate.

The maximum number of partners allowed (including non- funded partners) is 6. The maximum number of partners can be increased to 7 if the consortium includes a company, or a partner coming from Hungary, Lithuania, Latvia, Moldova and Poland, or if one partner is led by an early career researcher. Participation of end-users, stakeholders and companies is encouraged. ANR will only fund the eligible French partners of the selected projects (330 kEuros maximum for the project coordinator, 250 kEuros maximum for project partners and 450 kEuros maximum for the whole project). Selected projects will be initially funded for a period of up to three years. In agreement with ANR policy, funded researchers must respect the guidelines of the Nagoya protocol and consider open access publication of their results.

Interested researchers can consult the documents of the call for more information.
