Research on open science practices and stakes

In order to identify the needs and interest of the scientific communities regarding open science practices and stakes within research practices, the French National Research Agency launched a call for expressions of interest in April 2023, which led to a major mobilisation of communities. The analysis of these proposals has highlighted the diversity of expectations and needs. Therefore, the ANR is launching a specific call for proposals open to all scientific communities, on the practices and stakes of open science.

This critical approach can take various forms and pursue various objectives. If some approaches aim to better understand scientific practices, their diversity and their evolution, others intend to contribute to public research policies by providing data, measurement or assessment tools, and by formulating proposals and recommendations.

Thus, this call for proposals invites researchers to initiate a reflective and critical approach to observe and explore their research practices in the context of open science. It aims to enrich the national and international reflection on the matter.

As for the call for expressions of interest, the project proposals may be based on mono or multidisciplinary approaches. They can be multiscalar, comparative, experimental, historical, sociological, economic, philosophical and present case studies. They must take into account the context defined by the public policies implemented at the national, European and, if necessary, international levels.

Projects may address the following themes in particular:

  • Analysis of research ecosystems. Mapping and multiscalar study of open science practices

  • Analysis of the economic impact of open science

  • Designing tomorrow's research with open science.

Projects may be single or multi-partner. International collaborations are recommended.
Consult the call for proposals and related documents for details of eligibility criteria.
