International call on Computational Neuroscience – NEUC 2021

ANR launches in collaboration with NSF, DOE and NIH (USA), BSF (Israel) and NICT (Japan) a call for research and data sharing projects in computational neuroscience.

This call concerns an opening of the NSF program “Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience » (CRCNS) as detailed in the document “Solicitation 20-609”.

This program emphasizes innovative research and resources, encouraging the application and development of state-of-the-art computational methods by theorists, computational scientists, engineers, mathematicians, and statisticians to tackle dynamic and complex neuroscience problems. It also emphasizes data and software sharing.

Binational as well as multinational projects can be submitted. For ANR, the consortium must comprise at least one French partner and one American partner and can additionally include Japanese and/or Israeli partners.

The proposals will be evaluated according to NSF evaluation procedures in association with ANR and the other partner agencies of the programme.

Each agency funds the partners in the respective country, according to its own national rules.

General information

The document « Appendix for French Partners » introduces the modalities of the opening of the program ‘Collaborative Research in Computational Neuroscience: Innovative Approaches to Science and Engineering Research on Brain Function’ (CRCNS) to French-US projects. The instructions for French Partners are complementary to the instructions of NSF “Solicitation 20-609”.

Submission Modalities

The investigators prepare a project written in English to be submitted to NSF. The project description must include the Annex for French Partners to be included as an additional document together with the submission to NSF. The Annex for French Partners form is available on this webpage.

Warning: The NSF’s full proposal deadine is December 10, 2020 but the document is due by 5p.m. local time (which depends on the time zone of your american partner). This has to be taken into account before submitting your proposal to the NSF.

In parallel to the project submission, the ANR applicants must send the Annex for French Partners to ANR by E-mail (NEUC_calls(at)anr.fr) before December 17, 2020.
