FLASH CALL Open Science: research practices and open research data

The Flash call, announced in the French national open science plan, represents an opportunity to accelerate the maturity of the various disciplinary communities with regard to the challenges of structuring, accessibility, reuse, interoperability, citation, sharing and openness of research data. This call is more broadly in line with the European and international open science movement, and also has the ambition to strengthen French participation in initiatives such as the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), GOFAIR, Research Data Alliance (RDA), SCOSS, etc.

The objective is to request the scientific community itself to propose, field by field, discipline by discipline, specialty by specialty, as to how it can apply the principles of open science to research data. International convergence and transferability between disciplines are the main points in the call that will be fostered. Similarly, the link with national, European or international research infrastructures will also be enhanced. The call will deal with research data on a broader scope such as: numerical data, textual data, serial data, images, videos, sounds, source codes, etc. and the associated metadata. The call will cover all disciplines and all types of data collected, captured, acquired, etc.

The call will contribute to

1. the financing of work to produce results that can be activable (useful to broad ) by broad disciplinary communities in order to forward the state of the art and the practices.
2. the appropriation of this initiative by scientific communities including those that are less structured ones.

And the structuring, in France of a multidisciplinary community focused on "data".
