ERA-NET Cofund SusAn: Transnational Call on Sustainable Animal Production Systems
ANR has teamed up with the ERA-NET Cofund SusAn to launch its first joint transnational call for proposals designed to fund innovative research projects in sustainable animal production. The European Research Area Network (ERA-NET) Cofund Sustainable Animal Production Systems – SusAn – will fund research aimed at providing Europe’s citizens with sufficient, healthy and safe food, safeguard natural resources (especially land and water), and reduce fossil energy dependency and environmental impacts, whilst address societal concerns. SusAn will hit upon several societal challenges and Horizon 2020 themes including sustainable agriculture, environment, resource efficiency and Europe in a changing world.
The SusAn consortium consists of 37 partners from 23 European member states: Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, UK.
This co-funded call for research is open to transnational research proposals that use systems and interdisciplinary approaches to address multiple objectives from the following three research areas:
- Research Area 1: Improve the productivity, resilience and competitiveness of European Animal Production
- Research Area 2: Improve and manage resource use to reduce waste and enhance the environmental sustainability of European animal production
- Research Area 3: Improve on-farm practices to enhance consumer acceptability and address societal challenges associated with animal welfare, product quality and safety, biodiversity and provision of ecosystem services.
Consortia should submit cross-cutting research proposals which bear upon all three areas and build on the sustainability triangle of economic competitiveness, social acceptability and environmental protection.
Funding will be awarded for three years maximum. ANR will only fund selected projects from French partners.
The appelsprojetsrecherche.fr portal centralises all information on calls for proposals and calls for applications from ADEME, ANR, Inserm including ANRS, Anses and INCa. It provides a simplified access to upcoming and ongoing calls, giving a greater visibility to funding opportunities. Following their closing date, the calls remain published for a few months.
