Call for Proposals for Multinational and Translational Research Projects on Bidirectional Brain-Body Interactions

The ANR is joining forces with the ERA-NET NEURON COFUND 2 to launch a call for projects aimed at gaining a better understanding of the role of bidirectional interactions between the central nervous system and the body in neurological and psychiatric diseases.

This call for projects will primarily fund studies with the potential to improve our understanding of the mechanisms underlying body-brain interactions in the context of their implications for brain health and disease, including associated co-morbidities, and also research proposals with the aim of developing intervention approaches aimed at normalising deregulated body-brain communication, provided that they are based on known or hypothetical neural mechanisms.
Research proposals must cover at least one of the following areas:

• Fundamental research into the role of bidirectional interaction between the body and the brain in the pathogenesis and/or aetiology of neurological and psychiatric diseases. This may include the development of innovative or shared resources and technologies aimed at normalising deregulated body-brain communication.
   
• Clinical research to develop new strategies for prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation procedures for diseases in which altered body-brain communication is a relevant pathological process
