Résumé

EIPHI Graduate School (GS) is a PIA structuring flagship program aimed at strengthening the excellence and international attractiveness of Univ. Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (UBFC) in its distinctive scientific area “Advanced materials, waves & smart systems”, and thereby well matching the industrial & socioeconomic strategy of the BFC Region. From 2018-2021, EIPHI has federated 3 world-renowned research institutes, FEMTO-ST, ICB, IMB, while fostering graduate degrees of international ambition within 10 Master tracks and 2 doctoral schools in 5 domains: Physics, Maths & Applications; Energy; Computer Science; Smart Systems & Structures; Material Science. A major step in 2021 has been the integration of 4 other notorious institutes (ICMUB, ImViA, UTINAM, LmB), enlarging EIPHI to >1150 staff, plus 6 additional international Master tracks including 2 Erasmus Mundus. EIPHI’s main features are cross-disciplinary training built upon basic research combined with high-technology, research-pushed industrial innovation, and international experience for its students through a dense world-extended partner network. EIPHI also seeks innovative pedagogy (project-based learning, individual coaching with tutoring/mentoring, personal skills development…) while switching its training in English. Such a dynamics involves 2 universities, 1 Univ. of technology, 3 Engineering Schools, all within UBFC, and the French CNRS. EIPHI also coherently interacts with several other France 2030 programs: 1 IDEFI, 1 NCU, 1 CMA, 2 Labex, 9 Equipex & Equipex+, 1 IRT, 1 SATT, 5 PEPR from 2023, and leans on 13 other technological centers/platforms. As another asset boosting this overall strategy since 2021, EIPHI is also intimately linked to, and a prime mover of UBFC-InteGrate, a further PIA SFRI program gathering EIPHI with 2 GS dedicated to the 2 other UBFC distinctive areas (Environment, food; Medical care), thus building a unified Graduate Institute strongly structuring the regional academic space.
