Résumé de soumission

CORTEX is building the Neuroscience community in Lyon, via promoting Excellency in scientific research, reinforcing the links between the fundamental and clinical communities and opening neuroscience to the social sciences. CORTEX is active (i) in strengthening the research infrastructure, (ii) in the field of stem cell biotechnology (INGESTEM) and (iii) in the development of the non-human primate as an essential step to understanding the human brain (PRIMAGE). CORTEX is reinforcing the interactions of social economics and neurosciences (GATE-LAB), and developing a uniquely ecological intracerebral EEG platform. CORTEX played a proactive role in promoting the international profile of neuroscience teaching in Lyon with the NeuroConference and developing new teaching tools (CORTEX Mag) to promote science communication skills. CORTEX teams have been very active in industrial and educational valorisation and are currently developing a coordinated action. CORTEX has jointly organised with other health oriented LabExs’ a 1-day meeting to foster inter-LabEx collaborations and help structure the health community in Lyon, in conformity with the strategy of the IDEX. CORTEX organized a 2-day Scientific Advisory Board meeting in June 2014, which highly rated the Excellency of the teams of CORTEX. Since its creation, four ERC grants have been awarded to CORTEX researchers. A future SAB meeting is currently being organised to help assess candidates for CORTEX extension. CORTEX has been instrumental in organizing International meetings (2013 and 2016) and attracting talented young researchers to Lyon neuroscience, recruited in the research agencies and by an International Attraction CORTEX Package (Christophe Heinrich team). In addition to young researchers, the leverage effect of CORTEX has been instrumental in the recruitment of technical staff who are predicted to play an important role via their capacity to innovate and develop the high performance of our platforms.
