Résumé de soumission

CAMI-Labex (Computer Assisted Medical Interventions) claims a contribution to fulfilling patient’s demand for Quality during interventions by: i) structuring French skills in CAMI into a structured and internationally visible Task Force; ii) offering senior clinical operators the possibility to see beyond the immediately visible, to be assisted in their real-time vital decisions and to access to enhanced dexterity, and teaching junior operators “to fly” before being left alone; iii) demonstrating the medical benefit of CAMI innovations; iv) promote wide industrial dissemination of these innovations.

A real “CAMI spirit” emerged in particular through the PhD program with 33 PhD students recruited since 2012 co-supervised by several partners of the labex. Significant progresses were obtained along all our research axes (augmented perception, decision, action and learning) and in the  integrated projects already launched. These achievements were acknowledged nationally and internationally by many publications and several scientific, clinical and industrial awards.

On the clinical side, several hundreds of patients were included in clinical trials of CAMI innovations and collaborative tools for demonstration of CAMI medical benefit have been initiated (M2CAMI working group, CAMI Observatory).

CAMI support to maturation combined to maturation projects with SATTs associated to the partners already led to the creation of startup companies. Among them, Cartimage Medical, a start-up working on cartilage repair, was awarded in Concours Mondial de l’Innovation 2016. BaseCamp Vascular, a start-up company working in the field of the active catheterism for the neuroradiology was recently created after support from CAMI and SATT Lutech.

Concerning development platforms, CamiTK proved an efficient collaborative software platform for sharing expertise between Labex partners and to quickly develop prototypes.
