Résumé de soumission

The researches concern the genetic, molecular, and cellular mechanisms that control plant physiology and development as well as their interactions with fluctuating biotic or abiotic environments. These studies extend from molecules to the entire plant and use the concepts and tools of biochemistry, biophysics, imaging, molecular biology, genetics, cell biology, modelling and bioinformatics. They are multidisciplinary by nature and oriented towards the construction of an integrative biology.

Taking into account the socio-economic and scientific contexts, we have identified three strategic, complementary scientific challenges: 1) moving from descriptive towards a more predictive biology, 2) understanding basic mechanisms that control plant development and physiology, 3) developing tools and biotechnology for research, innovation and valorization, and four relevant thematic axes: 1) Sustainable intensification of plant productivity in a fluctuating environment, 2) Improving plant quality for food, feed, health, environment and industry, 3) Plants to understand fundamental biological mechanisms, 4) Developing new resources and biotechnology for research, translation and innovation.

SPS internal meetings took place in 2011, 2013 and 2015. SPS organized a first international “SPS Conference” in 2013 and the 26th International Conference on Arabidopsis, for the first time in France, in 2015. Nine large collaborative flagship projects have been / are carried out (4 in 2012-2016 and 5 in 2016-2019). Six open calls have been launched yearly from 2012 to 2016 and relevant projects were selected including: 59 Events or Guest visits, 9 PhD and 7 Post-doc (2 years) fellowships, 32 projects for Teaching and Training actions (mobility or pedagogical events), 18 for Teaching and Training hands-on programs, 41 for common equipment and 9 dedicated to Innovation (12 “SPS’Innov” mostly in the frame of public-private partnerships).
