Résumé de soumission

In 2016 L-IPSL has achieved major steps in developing a number of research, innovation and training actions.

 Research Axis : after a mid-term phase giving rise to 16 projects on climate change issues, leading to now 73 publications, four new major research projects have started in 2015-2016. This has allowed a new strategy for 2016-2019, based upon tools and knowledge developed along previous years. Research has focused on a few of the most difficult challenges in climate science: understanding high-amplitude variability in past climate, understanding climate evolution of the 20th century, understanding emergence of impacts in current and future climate, and challenges in climate modelling.


The L-IPSL has pushed further its activities on training and education in 2016. Major achievements include the organization of a week of field-work for undergraduate students, the production of e-learning contents (MOOC, teaching kits, e-python practical works), the support to emblematic communication actions such as les messagers du climat, the realisation of a professional training session, and the improvements of the orientation platform on climate masters in Ile de France.

Innovation and Transfer of expertise:

In the innovative instrumentation area, a new version of the water vapor Raman channel is now developed  et tested. A first market research has been performed by the SATT Paris-Saclay.

The L-IPSL also has achieved major steps in the development of climate services. L-IPSL has brought a significant contribution to the national endeavor on climate services “DRIAS”. Three projects are currently involving transfer of models or knowledge to three SMEs. The L-IPSL has contracted with a developing start-up for the transfer of climate projection data sets. L-IPSL has impulse several projects now funded by the Copernicus Climate Change Service European programme. The revisit of the unique SIRTA atmospheric observation data base was undertaken.
