Résumé de soumission

The French Infrastructure for Integrated Structural Biology (FRISBI) was created in May 2011 to set up high-end instrumentation in structural biology and make it available to the French and European, academic and private scientific communities. The FRISBI distributed infrastructure has been open since June 2012 for project-based access to cutting-edge instruments and know-how for structural biology; this includes sample preparation and characterization, X-ray crystallography, NMR, and electron microscopy. Access is available via the FRISBI web site ( and projects are selected according to technical feasibility, scientific impact and availability of resources. Access demands have increased over the last years.

The second SAB meeting was held in November 2016 at the Strasbourg FRISBI center. The second users meeting was organized at the GTBio/SFB meeting in December 2016 at Obernai. FRISBI participated in the organization of 11 workshops/symposia in 2016, including the third ReNaFoBis national School.

Each year there is a training program and this has now been established for 2017. In total, 211 users have been trained on the FRISBI platforms. FRISBI has developed partnerships with industry to support various development projects and to reinforce technology transfer (e.g. Strasbourg with FEI, Grenoble and Montpellier with NatX-Ray, South Paris with Dynamic Biosensor, Inc Bio Springer and Cortecnet) and also with the pharma industry for therapeutic innovation (e.g. South Paris with Sanofi, Ipsen Phycosource).

Key project metrics for the reporting period: around 755 external user projects were handled by FRISBI; 136 publications resulted from FRISBI platform use; 5 patent applications resulted from FRISBI developments or user projects.
