FondaMental-Cohortes

PSY-COHorte is a French cohort following 1,300 patients with Bipolar Disorder or Schizophrenia during at least ?ve years. Its goals are to identify clinical and bio-markers of strati?cation, trajectories and stages of these severe and frequent disorders, based on a shared prospective clinical and biological database. The patients’ recruitment is performed through 21 Expert Centers located in university-a?liated psychiatric departments, coordinated by the Fondation FondaMental.

This follow-up already enabled to demonstrate the e?cacy of a specialized and thorough assessment, performed in the Expert Center (reduction of hospitalization duration, improvement of functioning and quality of life, reduction of symptomatology and comorbidities, diminished associated cost). Clinical markers predicting good or bad trajectories as well as risk of relapses were identi?ed. The impact and high frequency of somatic comorbidities, particularly metabolic syndrome were also demonstrated. These ?ndings have been published in international journals and shared with patients’ associations as well as with policy makers.

Together, current (UPEC, Inserm, Sorbonne Université, Fondation FondaMental) and new potential partners’ institutions (CEA, Université Paris-Saclay,) will be able to analyze biological samples thanks to Omics technologies and to use machine learning methods to identify signatures/algorithms of strati?cations which will help to develop precision medicine for psychiatric disorders. PSY-COHorte data will also be linked to the national claims database which will provide cost and care trajectories of individuals. Last, PSY-COHorte wants to become an infrastructure giving wide access of well-phenotyped psychiatric data to the national and international community increasing visibility of French psychiatry research.
