The AGADO project is built in sync with ongoing scientific mediation activities, organized by members of the Saclay Plant Sciences Graduate School of Research (SPS-GSR), for middle and high school students from the Île-de-France. Our goal is to promote all the tools and knowledge that science has to offer, thanks to quality information and a communication strategy commensurate with the challenges that agriculture has to meet in the foreseeable future. Based on a national opinion poll, we will undertake an in-depth analysis of the cultural representations and aspirations of French teenagers (14 to 18 years-old) regarding life, agriculture, agricultural production methods, and feeding behavior. At the same time, we will assess, with school groups, the impact of the SPS-GSR mediation actions in these fields, with the aim to improve their quality. CEVIPOF’s methodological expertise in social and political analysis will be used to carry out and interpret these surveys, with reference to former opinion surveys and pre-existing indicators, including its landmark "Baromètre de la confiance politique". The lessons learned from the project will shed a prospective light on the outputs and objectives of public research. They will be communicated to institutions interested in the cultural representations of young people, relating to agriculture and its development, in order to inform their strategy and to contribute to the design of national education and higher education programs.
