The project proposes to evaluate the impact of educational actions aiming at a better understanding of vaccination among young adolescents, and the relations between understanding of vaccination and confidence in science and scientific curiosity. The results of the project will notably allow to know the respective value of pedagogical actions carried out in class (aiming at increasing the knowledge of the pupils regarding the methods and the actors of vaccine research) and of innovative technology-based actions (a chatbot allowing a personalized exchange in the form of questions and answers). The final goal is to identify elements of an effective education/communication action, especially in the context of scientific content that is contested in society. The research will take place in a school environment. It will consist in comparing the results obtained by different groups of students during a pre-test and a post-test and the relative progress of a group that only receives the pedagogical intervention, a group that only interacts with the communication support (chatbot) and a group that receives both interventions. The test will evaluate the knowledge acquired by the students thanks to the proposed interventions, the impact on confidence in science, on scientific curiosity, and on the perception and attitude towards vaccines. This last point deserves special attention because, unlike adults, children and adolescents have not been the subject of many specific studies to date. The realization of the project will therefore, in principle, allow us to broaden our knowledge regarding the problems of adherence/resistance to vaccination.
