94, Val de Sciences – 94, Val de Sciences

Submission summary

The "94, un Val de Sciences" project is led by the CNRS Ile-de-France Villejuif and the Université Paris-Est Créteil (UPEC). It aims to implement mediation and scientific promotion actions around the research projects of these two institutions supported in the framework of the 2018 and 2019 ANR generic project calls. The actions planned within the framework of this project will be deployed throughout the Val-de-Marne department, territory where both CNRS Ile-de-France Villejuif and UPEC are based, and meet several objectives: make science accessible and attractive, bring science and citizens closer together, encourage scientific careers and promote women in science. To this end, the "94, un Val de Sciences" project will be aimed directly at secondary school students, before they make their choice of career path, in order to raise their awareness and interest on scientific careers and on the role of science in society and for the future. We are planning three main actions: a travelling exhibition in middle schools of the Val-de-Marne which will highlight the scientific approach and the work of researchers through photos, videos and interactive devices; the holding of mini-conferences by researchers for middle school students; meetings with researchers during immersive and participative workshops in laboratories. CNRS Ile-de-France Villejuif and UPEC wish to work with professionals in the field of scientific mediation to carry out this project. They will be supported in all their activities by the Savoir Apprendre association, which has been managing the activities of the ExploraDôme, an interactive science, technology and digital discovery museum located in the heart of Vitry sur Seine, for more than 20 years and which also conducts numerous mediation activities in the south-east Paris region.
