Control of water wave propagation by microstrucrured media – CoProMM

Submission summary

The experimental and theoretical project CoProMM deals with the control of the propagation of water waves with floating or anchored microstructured media. It revolves around two particular aspects of surface waves : 1) floating or anchored microstructured media for swell ; 2) the effect of attenuation and nonlinearities in temporal regime. We propose to study microstructures whose elementar brick is a sub-wavelength resonator inspired from Helmholtz resonator. A single resonator will be characterized in different configurations, then a periodic array of resonators and finally with a slowly variable period until reaching a large protected area. The participation of a startup will give to this project an industrial applicable with the built-up of a prototype at the scale 1 (24 m side) which will be tested in the ocean. Official authorizations havealready been obtained.
