ADvanced Submarine Intelligent Listening – ADSIL

Submission summary

This chair opens the paradigm "ADvanced Submarine Intelligent Listening". It is headed by honorary member IUF member H. Glotin. His 3 LIS colleagues in Toulon are experts in Deep Learning and acoustics / bioacoustics. This team had particular discussed this topic when they received Y. Lecun in 2013 and started work with S. Mallat on scattering. This chair is the continuation of several years of IA works of the Dyni team in underwater acoustics. The team is reinforced by a 5th expert in acoustics and deep learning at Nancy INRIA, and by an expert in underwater acoustical HPC and an expert in HPC and optimization for the problems of assimilation of masses of data.

The chair for its research component focuses on 3 related tasks: T1: propagation and learning / acceleration of physical model by DNN; T2 Classification and joint localization by fusion of heterogeneous features; T3 optimization of distributed efforts on an acoustic drone fleet.

Existing L M and D training and the new ones we will open in 5 years will be impacted by ADSIL because of strong implication of the teaching team in all modules of AI on the campus UTLN

Finally, the Chair is supported by two industrials, already in close connection with the team for bioacoustic applications and or the national navy / defense.

Thus the project is dual with theoretical innovations and operational validations at sea.
