Chiral Metalated Nitriles: New perspectives in asymmetric catalysis – ChirMetNit

Submission summary

ChirMetNit project aims to highlight the synthetic potential of N-metalated nitriles, and more specifically N-metalated ketene imines, to develop innovative and catalytic asymmetric strategies for the challenging construction of vicinal quaternary or tetrasubstituted stereocenters in a single reaction step from various nitriles. The identification of improved catalytic methods for the enantioselective synthesis of N- and/or O-containing heterocycles and carbohydrate motifs with multiple stereogenic centers, that take into account the notion of step economy and selectivity, will undoubtedly offer unique opportunities. By combining complementary expertise, both methodological developments involving dual catalysis and application towards medicinal and/or natural bioactive compounds will be investigated within the context of this research project. This success would overcome a technological hurdle that hampers the synthesis of numerous complex molecular targets.
