Circuits of modifications in tRNAs: networks enabling dynamic regulation of modifications – CiMoDyMo
Maturation of RNAs involves post-transcriptional chemical modifications of its nucleotides. Among the different RNA families, transfer RNAs (tRNAs) display not only the highest variety of chemical modifications, but also the highest density of modification per transcript. While a simple model would be that modifications are introduced to tRNA independently, several modification circuits have been identified in which one or more modifications stimulate or negatively regulate the formation of another modification. In addition, in response to environmental changes, a dynamic adaptation of the modification status of tRNAs occurs. The present project aims at investigating the relation between tRNA modification circuits and dynamic adaptation of tRNA modifications in response to environmental changes.
