The French National Research Agency (ANR) and the National Science Foundation of China (NSFC) organise a Joint Workshop that will be held on September 19-20, 2012, at the Maison des Polytechniciens in Paris, France.
ANR-NSFC joint funding programme was launched in 2008, and since then 42 collaborative French-Chinese research projects have been co-funded by both agencies. The scope of funded projects is rather broad, ranging from ICT, Nanotechnologies, Engineering and Materials Science to Energy, Geotechnics and Environment.
ANR-NSFC bilateral cooperation has proved to be a real success, and it is now a good time to organise a joint workshop gathering all the French-Chinese projects that have been funded so far. The event will be an opportunity for French and Chinese researchers to get useful research findings from other projects from the same community, and to get feedback from the programme officers of ANR and NSFC. It is also an opportunity for NSFC and ANR to have an overview of the progress achieved by the projects. To encourage interactive discussions among all participants, each project will give a presentation, which will present their first results and scientific outcomes, the difficulties they have encountered, as well as the added value of the international collaboration. For the 2011 projects, the expectations and objectives of the consortia should be put forward. This is finally an international event allowing the French and Chinese PIs to meet their colleagues from the other country.
The two-day workshop will be organised in two parallel sessions, according to the thematic areas of the projects: ICT; Engineering and Materials; Energy; Geotechnics and Environment; and Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Each project will give a 20 minute presentation. 15 minutes will be devoted to questions and answers. The preliminary programme is available here.
